Aluminum decay or won't rust, but it is generally decided that it reacts more strongly to cold and hot than lumber and therefore cools the greenhouse in winter; my own personal belief is that this isn't a significant factor. Metal is reasonably costly, is difficult to operate yourself and looks hideous.
